Endodontics
Endodontics is the specialty of dentistry that deals with the morphology, physiology and pathology of the nerve of the tooth and the periapical tissues. Its purpose is to preserve the natural dentition for the lifetime of the patient, making the damaged tooth biologically tolerated, with no abnormal symptoms, and functionally active.
During endodontic treatment:
- a. We remove the pulp of the tooth, i.e., the tissue inside the tooth which provides vitality and sensation.
- b. We disinfect and sterilize the canal which is a continuation of the coronal chamber and contains nerves and blood vessels of the tooth.
- c. Then, follows the hermetic obturation of the canal with filling material that reaches the apex - the part of the tooth from which they enter it the vessels and nerves.
